Dato' Resham Singh - EMF 1st Social Entrepreneurship Philanthropist
Dato' Resham Singh, an aeronautical engineer from the United Kingdom, has worked with various airlines in the UK before joining Malaysia-Singapore Airline (MSA). In 1967, he joined MSA as an engineer. After the split of MSA to Malaysia Airline System (MAS) and Singapore International Airline (SIA) in 1972, Dato' Resham Singh accepted the offer as an Aircraft Engineer Executive at MAS and later promoted to Director Head of Engineering. Over the next three decades, over 6,000 staff were trained in various disciplines in the aviation industry.
This has led to the development of in-house capability for maintenance, over-haul and testing capability for the entire fleet of 126 aircraft with world wide operations, domestic, regional and international. The entire organisation of staff, facility, equipment and procedures were approved by Malaysia Director of Civil Aviation (DCA). In addition, we also acquired the approval of thirty-five countries worldwide (Federal Aviation Administration, USA, Civil Aviation Authority, UK, Joint Aviation Authority, EU).
This has resulted in a transfer of high technology, self-sufficiently, skilled employment, reduction in cost, thus savings of foreign exchange, reduction in expensive spare parts due to turn around time (TRT) and flexibility in operations. To further improve the productivity, efficiency and maintain high-level quality and reliability the entire facility and operations were fully computerised in compliance with international standards.
He has served as a board member in various aviation companies and was also Chairman and Chief Delegate to Orient Airlines Aviation (OAA) and International Airport Transportation Association (IATA), Montreal, Canada.
Due to his contribution to the aviation industry, Dato' was recognised and awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Aeronautical Society, U.K. (FRAeS) followed by an award by the Engineering Council, U.K. as incorporated Engineer (IENG) in 1991. He thanked and appreciated the support of various Chairman's, Member of Boards, Managing Directors, Management and his talented team, international airlines, manufacturers and various government regulatory authorities.
After 37 years in aviation, he retired in 1995. With his vast experience worldwide and global networking, he embarked on a highly successful career as an aviation consultant over a period of 10 years. Currently, he is diversifying his properties in Malaysia. Singapore and Australia.
For the last 18 years, apart from his successful career, Dato' Resham Singh enjoys active investment in social and human capital for the purpose of social change within his network. He believes that good education eradicates poverty and opens door to freedom; providing endless opportunities to a greater future for everyone who is prepared to work hard.
Dato' Resham Singh shares similar aspiration with CEO of Enactus Malaysia Foundation (EMF), Datin Norela Nuruddin in nurturing future talented leaders of tomorrow, today. On this shared vision that led him to become EMF 1st Social Entrepreneurship Philanthropist.
Dato' Resham Singh currently interchangeably resides in three countries, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia.
